Been on summer break for over a month, but ssshh.
So I made it to Round 3 for Manwyworlds, but chose to drop out. Going to be too busy with other things to continue, unfortunately. But i had a lot of fun these first two rounds, and it gave me some good comic practice.
But anyways, summer's shaping up to be rather eventful. I moved to an apartment that's much closer to Sheridan, so I can go there whenever I want to sketch and enjoy some sweet, sweet airconditioning. Unlike the previous summer, and the one before that (and so on), I've taken it upon myself to spend more time practicing art and sketching, instead of being a useless sack of bones for four months. Trying to keep up some sort of schedule, sketching for an hour/page each day and whatnot. Also have written down a (far too long) list of things that I need to practice, nominally getting a serious handle on digital art and colour theory, which I've been lacking for long enough. Also want to get some practice in on animating and layouts, since we move in to the 3rd year group film when college comes around. Also also want to start getting a handle on 3D art, which i got a taste of in 2nd year, and has a decidedly nice flavour. Gonna have a helluva learning curve to get through, but it'll be worth it in the end. Lastly, I want to make some print-worthy art in the far-fetched hopes of someday actually having an artist's table at a con someday.
On the matter of cons, I attended Anime North last month, and spent more money on food than anime, which is a decided mark against the quality of the con this year. Fanexpo's coming up in August, and I'm possibly leaning towards Otakuthon in Montreal as well,as a bunch of friends are also going.
New apartment doesn't have a computer desk yet. Have to use a nightstand until then. Kills my back.
And thats about all thats interesting in my life. which isn't that much.
Oh yeah, PROMETHEUS. AND BRAVE. AND THE HOBBIT. AND BATMAN. AND SPIDERMAN. hell, even Madagascar 3 looks good. Gonna be a wicked sumer for movies, especially after the glorious spectacle that was The Avengers.
tootles.
